Emilia, "William put blocks in and I put yellow counters. We had to count them to make sure we had 12. William helped me to count them"
William "We got counters and blocks and put them inside the hoop to show what the number 12 looks like."
Jack "In art we did decorations using a big piece of string, beads, buttons, pasta, foil cupcake tins and other things from the art room. I thought it was fun to make. This week we went into the art room and saw the creations we made, which were hanging up on a string across the art room."
Martina "Today I am wearing a Mexican costume because my Mummy and Daddy are Mexican. Today is Harmony Day and we are all wearing different things to show where our families are from."
Marlowe "The word of the week is 'sun'. Our sentence is 'The sun was up but is was not hot'. We had to cut out the words and stick them in our book in the right order. I then got to draw a picture of the sun and my family."
Grade 1
Sammy and Harriet: "We have been doing partner reading and we swap to practice reading out loud. We loved the book about the dinosaur when he tries to fly because its so funny; we have also liked reading 'Muddy Paws' because it’s the same dog as Charlie.
We have been reading about doctors and nurses and people who sell us food as part of our Community unit"
Felix "I shared my rainbow snake because it was so rainbow and sparkly, which I got from Phillip Island. It is one of my favourite things. I shared my snake and my ribbons for my running races. I got two ribbons for running the 100 metres and 200 metres races, and a medal. I showed all of these to my friends in 1G. At the end the class got to ask me questions about the things I showed them."
Grade 2
Grade 2 are excited about reading!
Max and Hugo enjoy reading non-fiction and learning lots of different facts.
Maxine is on the hunt for a new Anh Do book after her mum gave her a 'Wolf Girl' book that she loved so much - she can't wait to read another.
Eli likes reading about technology.
And all of grade 2 love reading their song books - and trying to memorise all the words!
Grades 3 and 4
Izzy (Peanut) and Clara share what they've been reading lately:
We are reading 'The Kindness Project' – its both sad and funny because its about lots of children who are not happy in their homes. There are funny parts because the characters do entertaining things.
Sometimes we do silent reading – often after lunch to help us with mindfulness. Izzy is reading a really good book called 'Outlaw Girls', which is all about time travel. Clara is reading 'Diary of Wimpy Kid' and has read it before but felt like reading it again at school.
Our 3/4 Hub gardeners are busy preparing garden beds for planting - well done on taking on such an important caretaker role of our garden.
Hugo (6T) "My mum is a landscape architect and she was looking at information on the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show and she saw something about a competition for schools to create a scarecrow and possibly win money for our kitchen garden project. Our grade 3 teacher Miss Wendy has been helping to create this. We have a working bee this Sunday for the kitchen garden."
Take a look at our amazing scarecrow above. We will share about this in a future edition of the newsletter!
Grades 5 and 6
Haris "In grade 6 at the moment we are very focused on our leadership roles. For example I am an SRC captain and I am helping to organise the SRC badges and the Harmony Day activities. My role will include planning for future events such as the Halloween Disco, Christmas carnival and other celebrations. In class we are also doing a poster about what our leadership qualities are."
Everleigh "We are researching about ancestry and how we can find out more about our family in the past. For maths we are looking at decimals, along with division, multiplication and subtraction."
