Student Learning

Learning in Year 5/6S
What a fantastic start to Years 5 and 6! We've been busy making new friends and reconnecting with old ones.
To build a Positive Pilgrim Community, we’ve been doing fun activities to help us get to know each other better. Students shared their interests and found others who love the same things, creating new friendships and connections beyond their usual groups. We also worked together on our Class Agreement, talking about how it helps everyone feel supported and ready to learn.
We’ve had a fantastic time getting to know our buddies in Year 1/2O and the Foundation classes. From playing together at recess and lunch to joining in on fun activities every Friday, it’s been such a great way to build friendships and learn from each other.
In Visual Arts, we’re creating self-portraits inspired by Pete Cromer’s unique style - we can’t wait to show them off at an upcoming assembly!
We’ve also started a new spelling program, which means lots of practice with new routines. It’s been a challenge at times, but we’re sticking with it, and soon, these routines will feel like second nature.
We’re off to a great start and can’t wait for all the exciting learning ahead!

Leaders Passport
Every Monday after recess, our Year 6 students take part in Leaders Passport, a program designed to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and encourage service within our community.
Each student will receive a sleek, black compendium to document their journey, filled with a mix of whole-class activities and student-choice challenges. These activities are designed to help students grow in each of the Pilgrim Student Attributes.
As they achieve milestones in different categories, students will earn badges to showcase their learning. They can wear these badges proudly as they progress through the program - challenging themselves, supporting each other, and most importantly, having fun!
We’re excited to see our leaders grow and look forward to sharing their progress with you throughout the year.

Parent Information Night New and Specialist Staff Video
During our recent Parent Information Nights, we shared a video introducing our new staff and specialist teachers for the year. If you were unable to attend, please click on the following link to see what was shared.
Seesaw
Please check you are linked to your child's new class for 2025. It should have automatically connected you but if there are any issues, please contact your child's teacher first and they can resend an invite. Please check under your name on the Seesaw app that the class is connected there too.
We want you to connect with your child's journal to see their work and celebrate their successes along the way. Students will add to their journal's photos, art pieces, work completed and tests they may undertake too, plus many other things that they would love you to see. This is a great way of seeing how your child is tracking through the term even before Parent Teacher Interviews and reports.

Pilgrim Choir Years 3 - 6
Pilgrim Choir has gotten off to a great start this year, with many students from Years 3 - 6 coming and singing over the last few weeks. We are looking forward to what the year holds for the Choir.
Choir rehearsals are held every Monday afternoon in the last lesson of the day, and all students from Years 3 - 6 are welcome to be a part of the Choir - there are no auditions to be a member, although from time to time there are auditions for solos within the choir songs. Being a member of the Choir gives students a chance to develop not only their musical skills, but also other important life skills including working together as a team, listening closely to others and perseverance to achieve a goal within an encouraging environment.
If your child is wishing to be in the Choir, please give your consent through the opt-in activity on Compass.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the Pilgrim Choir.
