Junior and Middle Level Leaders Report

Beginning Of Term 1:
Year 7 and 8 Leader Report
Year 7
A Magnificent Start to High School!
Our Year 7 students have made a fantastic start to the school year! They have quickly become proficient at following their timetables, navigating the school, and mastering their lockers. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they settle into high school life.
In class, students have been working through their Induction Booklet, which helps them reflect on their transition and key school processes. We encourage parents to have a look at this booklet and discuss it with their child.
Making new friends is an exciting part of starting high school, and our Year 7s have been forming great connections. We invite parents to ask about their child’s new friends and get to know some of the names they’ll be hearing at home!
Last week’s Swimming Carnival was a highlight, with fantastic participation and house spirit on display. It was great to see so many students getting involved, cheering each other on, and embracing the day.
We are incredibly proud of the way Year 7 students have embraced their start to high school, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success!
Year 8
Welcome Back to 2025!
Welcome back to a brand-new school year at South Oakleigh College! My name is Stephanie Heppel, and I’m thrilled to be joining the school as the Year 8 Level Leader. It has been fantastic meeting our students and becoming part of this vibrant and supportive community.
Year 8 is an exciting time—students are growing in confidence, taking on new challenges, and stepping into leadership roles within the school. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been so impressed by the energy and enthusiasm they’ve brought to the classroom and beyond. It’s clear we have a fantastic group of students ready to make 2025 a great year!
As we settle into Term 1, our focus is on ensuring every Year 8 student feels supported, engaged, and motivated to achieve their best. Whether it’s through academic success, wellbeing initiatives, or extracurricular involvement, I encourage all students to make the most of the opportunities available to them this year.
I look forward to working closely with students, families, and staff to create a positive and successful year ahead. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s make 2025 an amazing year for Year 8!

Year 9 and 10 Leader Report
Welcome to the 2025 School Year!
We are delighted to introduce ourselves as the Year 9 Level and Year 10 Level Leaders at South Oakleigh College. We take this opportunity to welcome you and your children to what promises to be an exciting and rewarding year ahead. It is a privilege to step into this role, and we are eager to support our students as they navigate this important stage of their secondary education.
Year 9 and 10 are a crucial time for personal and academic growth, where students begin to take greater responsibility for their learning and explore new opportunities. A key event for Year 9 students this year will be participation in the NAPLAN testing, and we look forward to working with our dedicated staff to make it a seamless process. Our goal in Middle School is to create a positive and inclusive environment where every student feels supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.
We look forward to working closely with you throughout the year and getting to know as many families as possible. Effective communication and collaboration between school and home play a vital role in student success, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to introduce yourself.
We are excited about the journey ahead and can’t wait to see what we will achieve together in 2025!
