Sport and PE at SJV

Taekwondo
This week, students at SJV have been taking part in exciting Taekwondo lessons, exploring a martial art that blends discipline, self-defense, and physical fitness. The lessons, designed to teach not only the techniques of Taekwondo but also the importance of focus and respect, has everyone excited.
Led by experienced instructors from Melbourne Taekwondo Centre (Bayside), the classes have provided an opportunity for students to learn new skills, such as basic stances, kicks, and self-defense techniques. More than just physical exercise, Taekwondo emphasizes values such as perseverance, integrity, and respect for others—principles that align well with the school's values.
For many students, this week’s lessons have sparked an interest in Taekwondo. With each kick and punch, the students are not only building physical strength but also learning valuable life skills that extend far beyond PE.
We look forward to seeing more of Harry, Bernie and Harrison as they continue the series of Taekwondo lessons at SJV. It is certainly impressive seeing the students at SJV launch into learning a new sport with such enthusiasm.
