and Upcoming Calendar Events
At kinder, one area we focus on is to promote respect and kindness in our interactions and actions across the service. This term, we have introduced the strategy "kindness superheroes" to our kindergarten children. This strategy is used to encourage the children to think about ways they can be kind and respectful at kinder and in the wider community.
This could be asking a friend to play with them, sharing their toys, using kind words and gentle hands. It could be helping their teachers packing up or using active listening at group time. It could be caring for the animals, plants and veggie gardens at kinder and at home by picking up rubbish and watering plants. The list goes on!
Positive reinforcement to support understanding
Using a positive reinforcement strategy like kindness superheroes supports the children in making positive choices in their play and interactions and creates confidence in their own identity.
Kindness Superhero award:
Each day, at the end of the session, two children will be given a kindness superhero award. This will be to celebrate something they have done during the day that demonstrated kindness and respect.
We have handed out lots of awards so far and are so proud of all our kinder kindness superheroes!
