What's been happening this week?

EXCITING MAIL FROM JAPAN!
This week, we received a special delivery all the way from Tokyo! Ayase Elementary School, the school we visited during the 2024 Japan Tour, sent us a package filled with cards from their Year 5 students. Each card introduced a favourite place in Japan, beautifully illustrated and written in English, showcasing their language learning! Our Year 5/6 students were thrilled to explore these cards, admiring the artwork and discovering new places in Japan thanks to the Ayase students.
In Term 2, it will be our students’ turn! They will complete a Japanese-language project to send back to Ayase Elementary.
LIBRARY LION
Year 1/2 students read the story of ‘Library Lion’ and created personal mini books retelling the main parts of the story. Students have been learning to retell stories by noting the beginning, middle and end, then using their own words to share this information. This week 1/2C had the opportunity to share their books with the Prep students, explaining the story and sharing their picture.
PREP AND YEAR 5 BUDDIES
Yesterday the year 5’s went to spend the last hour of the day playing boardgames and cards with our very excited Prep buddies. We enjoyed our time getting to know our buddies. It was fun teaching them how to play games and get to know each other. Everyone had a great time.
