Dio Sport Trials
Just a gentle reminder of the process that our School has when it comes to Diocesan Selection Trials. This has been put in place so it is a fair system for all students. Firstly, students in the correct age group are asked whether they wish to trial. Those students then take a note home which requires both the student and parent to sign a code of conduct form. Once this has occurred, students are then invited to trial on specific dates. Reminders are regularly given to students at assemblies regarding upcoming trials. Usually 2 or 3 trials occur (this is so if a student is away for a trial they have an opportunity to be seen at another time). A number of selectors will be involved in the trial and they then choose the students that fit the criteria set down by the diocese (Hockey, Rugby League and Girls Football – Netball & Boys Football – maximum 5 students per school. Schools (may contact Steve Maguire to discuss a variation of these numbers should the need arise as he appreciates that some years, schools may have an above average group excelling in some sport ). Once selected the students take home the selection note. Parents then register online via the CSNSW portal. It is very important parents are aware not to register students prior to receiving the note from the school as if this occurs the registration will be declined. The Principal or delegate then approves the application of those students only who received notes. Once this has been done the Sports Coordinator at the CEDB receives the registrations.
In regards to these trials a number of them occur so that if a student is away they have a chance to go to another trial.
Diocesan Swimming Carnival
On Tuesday the 11th of March we had 20 swimmers venture of to Dubbo for the chance to be selected in the Bathurst Diocesan Swim team to compete in Sydney. Mrs Livingstone accompanied the team and was most impressed with behaviour and how the students represented our school. A special mention must go to Archie Eades, Franklin Boucher, Henry Crump and Lulu Eades who gained selection in the Diocesean swimming team which will compete at Homebush on the 2nd April.
