Real Talk Seminars

On Friday the 28th of February, our school welcomed Hannah and Matt from Real Talk Australia to talk to our Year 5 and 6 students. During sessions our students discussed topics including Self Image, Impact of the Media, Friendships and Body Language. After a mixed session, boys and girls were then separated to learn about Puberty and the changes that happen to their body throughout this time. Here is some feedback from some Year 5 and 6 students:

Simon - Year 5:  "I was worried about how deep my voice was going to get but the talk was good and I'm not worried any more. I liked how they told us stories about themselves".

Joyce - Year 5:  "It was interesting . It was good to learn all about our bodies"

Isla - Year 5: " I liked all the activities like the stretch breaks. It wasn't boring. It was interesting."

Oliver - Year 6: "I enjoyed how they incorporated games and challenges into an odd subject. It was fun spending the day learning with Real Talk because it was all explained very simply..."

Sophie - Year 6: "I really liked the Real Talk session because Matt and Hannah made it really fun. The boys and girls session was really informative and I liked learning about all the things I learnt.

Delilah - Year 6: "Real Talk was good fun, with all of the games and the four facts of life. It was very interesting, exciting and educational".

Ash Wednesday Mass and Liturgy

Last week our school celebrated Ash Wednesday. Our Years 3 - 6 travelled to St. Mary's Church for a combined Mass with St. Mary's School. I was very proud of the reverence and respect displayed by all Catherine McAuley students. Well done to all.

Year 2 also led our Infants classes in a Liturgy to acknowledge Ash Wednesday. During this Liturgy we learnt that the ashes remind us to repent of our sins during Lent and that God is with us always. Congratulations to the Year 2 students and teachers on a very lovely Liturgy.

Did you know?

During each Liturgical Season all classrooms change the colour of the cloth on their prayer tables. When we go to Mass, the priest also wears this same colour.

Have a lovely fortnight and God bless.
