Year 3/4 News

READING
We’ve been learning how to make connections to what we read. Students have been practising identifying different types of connections, linking their own experiences to the text, and referring to specific parts of the story. They’ve also been learning to give examples to support their connections, helping them understand and engage with their reading on a deeper level!
WRITING
We’ve been working on writing great fictional stories by planning first and following the structure of a narrative. Students have been focusing on creating sizzling starts—exciting openings that grab the reader’s attention and make them want to keep reading!
MATHS
Our students have been developing their estimation skills while learning to recognise, represent, and order numbers. They’ve been making educated guesses about the number of shoes, books, and drink bottles in our class, year level, and school. Along the way, they’ve been practising how to show their working out and justify their reasoning. It’s been a fantastic way to build number sense and critical thinking.
