NAPLAN

NAPLAN 2025
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake. Students sit assessments in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The questions assess content linked to the Australian Curriculum: English and Mathematics. All government and non-government education authorities contribute to the development of NAPLAN test materials. Parents of Year 3 and 5 students can access a brochure at https://www.nap.edu.au/docs/default-source/default-document-library/naplan-information-brochure-for-parents-and-carers.pdf
explaining necessary information. Any questions can be directed to classroom teachers or Maria.
The NAPLAN test window for 2025 is open from Wednesday 12 March - Monday 24 March.
Our timetable for the children sitting the Naplan tests is as follows:
Wednesday 12 March: Writing
Thursday 13 March : Reading
Friday 14 March: Language Conventions
Monday 17 March: Numeracy
All tests in each of the subject areas, for both Year 3 and Year 5 students, will begin at 9:30am.
We have set aside Tuesday 18 March - Monday 25 March as our ‘catch-up’ days for tests also beginning at 9:30am. These catch-up sessions are for children who were absent during the scheduled first week timetable.
We have purchased headphones for the children to use during the NAPLAN tests and will be used during class sessions and beyond NAPLAN. The children will receive these shortly.
Headphones serve two vital purposes:
1. To block out the ambient noise during the tests
2. Some of the items on the tests have audio accompanying the questions and students need to listen for the promptsN
