Music

The 4s and 5/6s made Diddly Bows in our music classes this week.
These are simple, one-stringed instruments that are traditionally used in blues or folk music. They are played by plucking or striking the string and moving a slide to change the pitch. The timbre could be described as sharp and twangy, sometimes distorted or gritty, and when the slide is is used to bend the pitch it could be described as wailing or crying.
We had a great time constructing our instruments and I am very impressed at the expanding vocabulary our students are using to describe timbre!
