MPS Community Spirit Trophy and Interhouse Sports Carnival 2025

The Community Spirit Trophy is a prestigious award given to the house that earns the highest points for demonstrating positive school behaviours, particularly those that foster strong relationships, leadership, teamwork, and kindness. Students contribute to their house’s success by consistently helping others, showing respect, and making ethical choices—even when no one is watching. This trophy represents more than just a competition; it is a celebration of the values that create a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive school community. By recognising and rewarding these behaviours, the Community Spirit Trophy encourages students to lead by example and contribute to a positive and connected school culture.

House Captains play a crucial role in strengthening these connections and fostering a sense of community within their houses. They organise activities that bring students from all year levels together, ensuring everyone feels supported and included. Events such as lunchtime picnics and house games create opportunities for students to interact, build friendships, and develop a sense of belonging. House Captains also take advantage of timely sporting events, like the football-kicking competition held around the AFL Grand Final, to inject fun and enthusiasm into school life. Through these initiatives, House Captains help transform sport houses into more than just teams for competition—they become tight-knit communities where every student feels valued and engaged.

Our yearly Interhouse Sports Carnival was held last Thursday at MPS with both Senior and Junior School students involved.

This was an excellent opportunity for our Houses to get together and really build connections and community spirit early in the year. Students really got into the swing of it and dressed up in their House colours on the day.

The day is a fun opportunity for all students to join in and participate in a stress-free environment which is designed to garner House spirit.

As part of our House Captains further development, they planned their own activities, equipment and with teacher assistance ran the activities on the day. They also wore our brand-new House shirts which are due to arrive in March and looked amazing.

MPS was awash in a sea of House Colours on the day and it was truly amazing to see how much fun the students had doing the activities.
