Year 12 Retreats
“Jesus said to them, 'Come away with me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while.'"
As part of the College’s commitment to the holistic development of each student, the Year 12 Retreat Week is a transformational element of their journey.
The Year 12 Retreats are a time to nurture and dive deeper into the very essence of their relationship with God, others and self. It allows the students time for self-reflection and the opportunity to share, relax and experience the gifts of companionship with their fellow students following the rigors of the Trial HSC. It is the recharge many students need leading into the HSC.
The 5 x 3 day residential retreats were provided in Week 5 across three locations: Mulgoa, Terrigal and Tallows Beach. Each retreat was designed to be responsive to the unique elements of its surrounds, and were provided by specialist St Pius X staff. We are most grateful to the following staff who sacrificed time away from their families to ensure the retreats were such a success:
Ms Coughlin, Mrs Fileman, Mr Davies, Mrs Guerrera, Mrs Schuster, Mr Westhoff, Mr Di Sano, Mr Olson, Mr Quilty, Mrs Doherty, Ms Ramsey, Mr Yue, Ms Dempsey, Ms Proc, Mr Rodgers, Mr Stearn and Mr Wheatley.
Particular thanks is extended to Mr Di Sano, Mr Balboa and Mr De Silva for co-leading the retreats with faith, hope and love.
What an extraordinary gift for the above staff to accompany them and to witness the Holy Spirit unfurl a renewed spark of God within them while on the mountain top.
Incumbent Leader Retreat
On Monday evening, the lines between Jesus calling Peter on the shores of Galilee blurred with the sound of the waves at Terrigal as our newly elected leaders vested, washed and anointed one another at their leadership retreat tonight.
The ancient symbols of servant leadership through the stole, foot washing and commissioning with oil, answered the rhythmic call and response from scripture as they committed themselves to lead ‘with the smell of sheep’.
Fr David’s homily challenged them to ‘die to oneself so that others may live’, to listen, to care, and to take what enfires them and place it at the service of others.
What tremendous and humbling examples of leaders that these young people will make. Please keep them and their ministry in your prayers.
Father's Day Mass and Breakfast - Wear your favourite jersey to support organ donation
A reminder that tomorrow the College will be celebrating Fathers Day with a Mass followed by breakfast from 7:30 am at Our Lady of Dolours, with breakfast being served at the College at 8:30 am. All Fathers and father figures are welcome!
If you have not done so already, please RSVP using the following link.
To raise awareness in support of Jersey Day, you are welcome to wear your favourite jersey to support this vital element of our healthcare system during our Father’s Day celebrations.
Parish in Council 4
This Saturday we are delighted to be joining ‘Parish in Council 4’ as we continue to discern what the Spirit is saying as we discern how to best bring the light of Christ to the City. An exciting and beautiful expression of Synodality, it embraces the voices of all, the needs of all and the hopes of all.
The ‘Parish in Council’ approach:
- All are invited into conversation, discernment and empowered to actively contribute to parish life
- All are encouraged to take a shared ownership of, and investment in the future of the parish
- Leads the parish into council
- Listens to emerging discernments
- Provides a response
- Determines the priority, timing and resources allocated for actions
Thank you to our students from Year 10 and Year 11 who will not only be supporting the Parish in Council through set up, serving and pack down, but also through their participation in the process throughout the day.
God bless,
Mr Daniel Petrie - Assistant Principal, Mission and Identity
