Japan Trip

Japan Trip

The Japan Trip students have been preparing for lift off on September the 9. They have been attending weekly lunch time meetings in preparation of the trip, exploring such topics as travel related vocabulary, safety procedures and etiquette. We look forward to spending time in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima.

Recently, our tour uniforms arrived, and they look fantastic, with the tour logo designed by and then voted in by attending students. Our wonderful hats were sponsored by Community Bank Buninyong and we thank them for their generous contribution. They’re certain to keep us safe in the sun whilst also looking awesome.

We will keep the school community updated of our Japan adventure!

August 6 was Hiroshima Peace Memorial Day. Every year on this day at Hiroshima Peace Park, a special ceremony is held to send a message of world peace. In Japanese, the Grade 5/6 students have been learning about this park and the significance of the day, as well the story of Sadako and the 1000 paper cranes. On the Monday of the same week, we also welcomed Rio, who is from Hiroshima, to talk about Hiroshima in a few lucky classes.

It’s not too late for anyone in the school community to create their own origami peace crane. We will be taking these cranes to the Hiroshima on the Japan Trip next month. The cranes will be hung at the Children’s Peace Monument within the park.
