“Book an Adventure”
Just when you thought that Book Week was all done and dusted, think again! The Children’s Book Council of Australia have already announced the Book Week theme for 2025: ‘Book an Adventure’. This is another exciting theme with endless possibilities, I can't wait!
The extraordinarily talented Jess McGeachin is the CBCA artist for 2025. His extremely
popular book ‘DEEP’ was the winner of the CBCA Book of the Year Eve Pownall Award in 2023.
If you wish, you can meet the artist for next year and view the announcement here.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the students who have completed the 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge. I commend the commitment you have shown in achieving your reading goal over the past year. Last week I was able to validate 111 Student Reading Logs thus confirming that “Reading for pleasure” is alive and well at St. Joseph’s School.
This was also evidenced by some of the costume choices on display during our Book Character Parade e.g. the crayon box from ‘When The Crayons Quit’, a lamington from ‘Possum Magic’, the fly from ‘A Fly Went By’, Little Petey from ‘Dog Man’, or even as the author Terry Denton from The Tree House Books.
PRC Certificates are set to arrive at school during Term 4.
A friendly reminder that library bags are a necessity for the safe transportation of library books between home and school. I am well aware that accidents do happen and that is exactly what they are - an accident, but, having library books enclosed in a library bag will add another layer of protection against any unforeseen mishaps during transportation. I thank you for your support in this matter.
As the end of term approaches, I encourage you to ensure that your child/children have no overdue books hiding around the house – they are needed back in the library, please. Thank you in advance for your support with this!
Don't forget that your child has 24/7 access to reading material through SORA and World Book Online. Please note that your child will need their school login details to access SORA, if they are unsure of their login details please contact the school so we are able to provide them for you. Some recommendations for your perusal.
