Year 9 Peer Leaders
This term has been an exciting time for our Year 9 community, with several new initiatives and events that have paved the way for future successes. These were all successful trials, offering a glimpse into what our future Year 9's can look forward to every year.
Firstly, we held two Cluster Days that allowed our students to engage with potential employers and practice vital skills, including mock interviews. These experiences were invaluable, offering students a real-world connection to their future career pathways, and we are already planning how we can expand these events in the coming years.
Another significant milestone was the process of Year 10 subject selection. After participating in course counselling, students were able to make informed decisions about their future studies. This was an important step in helping students reflect on their strengths, interests, and future career aspirations, ensuring they are on track for success as they transition into senior school.
Our MYSELF classes also had a standout term. The Stride or Glide initiative, run by our students, was a particular highlight. As detailed in previous newsletters, this project culminated in a visit from the CEOs of Manningham and VicHealth, who came to witness the incredible work our students have been leading. The initiative is a testament to the power of student-driven projects and the impact they can have on both the community and student learning.
Lastly, this year we launched a new subject, MyFutureLeader, aimed at developing leadership skills in all students, not just those with prior leadership experience. Through a series of engaging activities, students were able to apply the leadership skills they had been practicing in a hands-on, collaborative environment. The energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and we’ve included some photos below to showcase their achievements.
This term’s success is a testament to the dedication of our students and staff, and we’re excited to continue building on this momentum. We look forward to more innovative and inspiring opportunities for our students in the future.

Some of our Year 9 students studying Chinese (Mandarin) Language attended the recent 15 Mile Creek Camp and they absolutely loved the experience! For some, the camp was a new and contrasting experience to their cultural background. The following students have written their personal accounts of the camp in Chinese:
I (Ms. Zhang) have translated their articles into English to share amongst our community. Enjoy!
