Over the past fortnight, our students have been focusing on the following skills:
Prep – Kicking a round ball
Grade 1/2 – The Olympic Games – volleyball
Grade 3/4 – Invasion Games, with a focus on basketball, in preparation for Hoop Time
Grade 5/6 – Sport Education in Physical Education Program (SEPEP), linking to community sport. Our seasons concluded with finals this week. Awards (as voted by the students) will be presented next week.
District Athletics
Well done to the 50 students who represented Rolling Hills at the Montrose District Athletics Carnival on Friday the 9th of August. In much better conditions than last year, our students demonstrated outstanding effort and pride, competing in running, jumping and throwing events against students from Montrose, Ruskin Park, Mount Evelyn, St Mary’s, Pembroke, MECS and St Patrick’s.
Thanks to Mr V, Miss Peirce, Jennine Kilner and Maryanne Wallace for their help on the day and to all the parents and friends who came along to support Rolling Hills.
A special mention must go to the 16 students who finished first or second in their event and will now represent the Montrose District at the Yarra Division Athletics Championships on Thursday the 10th of October. We wish you the best of luck!
EMR Netball Championships
Congratulations to our superstar netballers who represented Rolling Hills at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Netball Championships on Wednesday the 14th of August. This year, both our girls and mixed teams made it to the Region level of competition, which is an outstanding achievement! Both teams played extremely well throughout their pool matches and made finals. Our girls team finished 3rd and our mixed team 4th. Well done to you all, we are so proud of you!
Thank you to Nicole Donnelly and Sally Smith for coaching the teams and to all the families and friends who supported the students on the day.
Swimming
Congratulations to our Prep – 2 swimmers for an outstanding week in the pool! We have loved venturing to Aquahub for our lessons again this year. Next week will see our students in Grades 3 – 6 have their turn at the pool. Thank you to the staff and parent helpers for supporting our students and this part of the Physical Education curriculum.
