From the Principal

Principal: Mathew Montebello

Dear Families,

We can definitely feel a change in the weather and it has been great to see our new trees in our junior quad development start to blossom. Students have very much enjoyed the change in weather, as jumpers and pants have been replaced with t-shirts and shorts.

The school recently reviewed its uniform policy, and part of the review was to seek feedback from students and families. Feedback collected will now go to the School Council’s Ed Pol group for review. Further information about this review will be provided in the coming weeks.

Willy Learning Challenge

Next week the Term Three Willy Learning Challenge will be released.

Last term's school gate challenge saw high participation as we looked to name the oval gate.

The five finalist themes of Magpie, Bunjil, Jellyfish, Star and Sailing gate will be reviewed next week by our JSC students, before a final decision is made.

This term's challenge will piggyback off the Paris Olympics, as we see the commencement of the Paralympics. So keep an eye out for correspondence from Puhie.

Chess Tournament

Recently the school introduced an after school chess club. This club, which is operated by an external provider, Chess in Schools, has been a big hit. To further support the passion for chess, 16 students from year 3-6 will participate in a chess tournament against St Mary's Williamstown. The tournament will take place in week 8, with the hope of the tournament being an ongoing event with our Cecil St neighbours.

Reminders

Parent & Carers Opinion Survey

A reminder for all families to complete the 2024 parents/carers opinion survey.

Families should have received their 2024 Parent Opinion Survey and unique link and pin.

The information from this survey is highly valuable and is an essential part of the school’s strategic planning. Traditionally we have struggled to get a large percentage of families completing the survey, so we are asking families to please take the time to complete this one. Thanks for your support.

The survey closes on Friday 30th August

Warm regards,

Mat
