Book Week 2024 - Reading is Magic!

The annual Book Week celebration took place in Week 6. On Wednesday the 21st of August, students were encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. The Foundation students came dressed in a variety of costumes such as princesses, superheroes, mermaids and Harry Potter, to name a few! Children who dressed up on this day were encouraged to bring along a gold coin to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

 

 

The 2024 Book Week theme is Reading is Magic, and it sure is a magical pastime! When you read, your brain is like a sponge, soaking up new words, ideas, and information. It helps you learn new things, understand complex concepts, and think more critically. So, every time you open a book, you're not just entertaining yourself—you're giving your brain a workout!

 

 

 

 

This year's Book Week was thoroughly enjoyed by all! Students and teachers had a wonderful time celebrating all things book related. Book week allows students to celebrate Australia's talented authors and illustrators. Australia has so many creative writers who have written so many wonderful stories and it was fantastic to be able to explore these writers in the classroom. The most important message that we hope the students learnt this week is that reading is such an enjoyable experience and hopefully this love will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
