What's been happening in Visual Art this week........

Celebrating 100 Days at School

By FKJ

Inspired by abstract American artist Jackson Pollock, Foundation students were excited to use action painting to create their ‘Celebrating 100 Days at School’ masterpiece.

The background was painted with many different colours using different utensils including sponges, brushes and textured applicators.

The students then took it in turns to use squeezy bottles filled with different coloured paints to splash and drizzle paint onto the cardboard canvas that were laid out on the floor.  There were giggles of excitement as the painting commenced and we all had so much fun and  loved getting messy and doing action painting.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week (7-14 July) and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day (4 August)

In Visual Art this week students across the school have been learning a little bit about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.  We have been discussing the flags and the meaning of the colours and different symbols along with the location of the Torres Strait.

Inspired by  Samuawgadhalgal artist Deb Belyea's artwork 'One Fire' the whole school has been working in collaboration to create our version of her terrific work.  We have been focusing on the meaning of the artwork, colour, line, colour and pattern work.

Our finished artwork will be unveiled at our next assembly held on the 23rd of August starting at 2.40pm.  It would be terrific to see you there.
