School Start Bonus

Wendy Powson, APF Victorian Vice President

Last week I attended a meeting with the team from Financial Policy and Information Services Division, regarding the $400 School Start Bonus that was announced earlier in the year.

The funds will provide some welcome relief for families who have school aged children; however, our members have expressed concerns about the potential additional workload in schools. These concerns were relayed to the Department with a request that it be front of mind during the implementation planning.

Whilst it will be necessary for schools to be involved, the impact has been minimised and is limited to tasks such as ensuring parent details on CASES 21 are accurate and up to date.

Information was made available to schools today via direct mail from the Deputy Secretary and is available here.
