Principal's Report

Term 3, 2024

Alan Marr

As we conclude Term 3, I want to take a moment to reflect on the outstanding motivation and commitment our students have demonstrated throughout the term. Their collective efforts, achievements, and positive attitudes toward learning have been remarkable. It’s always a source of pride to see how our students continue to rise to the challenges presented to them, not only achieving academically but also embodying the values of our college. A special acknowledgment goes out to all those involved in the wide range of extracurricular activities that have enriched our school community this term. From our talented sporting teams to the incredible performances in our musical, dance, and drama soirees, students have showcased their diverse skills and passions. These activities not only provide important opportunities for personal growth but also highlight the strong sense of community and spirit within the college. I am continually impressed by the way our students represent our school with such pride and dedication, and I look forward to seeing their continued success and involvement in the coming term.

We know that parents are the most influential educators of their children. We also know that a strong partnership between the school and parents/carers will provide better life chances for our young people. As a school, we are very fortunate to have an active and supportive parent/carer body that contributes in so many ways and adds such tremendous value to the culture of our school.

Being actively involved in your child’s education can take many forms such as:

• Helping with homework,

• Showing an interest in the novel being read,

• Being part of a working bee,

• Dropping them off at 3.00 a.m. to enjoy the Mt Buller snow day.

Thank you to all our parents and carers for the wonderful efforts and sacrifices you make for our students. I recognise that everyone has busy lives, and I want to stress the importance of taking time to be interested in your child’s future.

BUSHFIRE PREPAREDNESS

It seems strange to be discussing Bushfire preparedness in such cold weather. The Dromana College BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) has been lowered which means we will most likely only close on code red days in 2025.  Works to create fire breaks in the bushland areas surrounding the college are now underway, adding an additional layer of protection to the students, staff, and visitors of the college on high-risk fire days.

2024 Curriculum Contributions

Thank you to our families for their generous Curriculum Contributions in 2024. Your support plays a crucial role in enriching the educational experience for all students at Dromana College. These contributions enable us to provide a broad range of resources, programs and opportunities that enhance learning and help our students thrive. We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to our school community.
