Year 2 Experience

Today the Year 2 students participated in a 'camp' experience as part of the Camp Program. They travelled to Activate by Hardrock in Moorabbin and then ate lunch at Balwyn Park. At Activate by Hardrock, students participated in age appropriate and 'challenge by choice' activities such as: clip & climb, the vertical drop slide and the leap of faith.

After lunch, the students walked from Balwyn Park to the Palace Balwyn Cinema to watch a private screening of 'Tangled.' Thank you to Mrs Chirio, Miss Olney and Mrs Toomey for planning and supervising this action packed fun day.

Hoop Time

On Monday some Year 3 and 4's went to our basketball Hoop Time.  We were ready to try our hardest. When we finally got there, my team had Polly, Harper, Grace, Annabelle, Suri and Isabelle, and we started practising shooting. It was great to see everyone there in our red, blue and white uniform. We were so proud to be there. I want to thank Mr O’Shea

for organising that special day. We did not end up winning any games but that’s ok

because I had a lot of fun. The best game of the day was the game that we mixed

up the boys team and the girls team. That was fun because we did not need to try our hardest. One of the games was a fun game against another team. We lost 34 to 0 but we didn’t care at all.

On Monday we went to Waverley Stadium for Hoop Time. I really enjoyed when we were supposed to play the boys Sacred Heart team. To make it fair, we mixed up the teams because we knew that we were going to get smashed by the boys. I want to thank Mr O’Shea for organising it and I also want to thank Jacquie for coaching us!!

The best thing about the day was definitely playing in the games and getting a lot better.

Passing the ball and scoring definitely made us win games. The thing I improved on the most was probably teamwork because I loved passing the ball to get assists and seeing some great shots from my teammates. Normally we win the games when we pass the ball. I really enjoyed it when we scored buckets as a team, and also when we lost because we always learnt a lesson after every loss. I learned to always listen to your teammates, and when you do that, you score a lot more points and that means win more games. Playing on a team was special because we had the chance to learn more about the kids that we played in the games with and I think that all the kids that played got better. I want to thank Mr O’Shea and all the parents and the teachers that made this possible, also the kids that played in the games.

On Monday the 26 of August, a couple of my classmates and I went to play basketball! My first game was at 10:10am. It was so fun playing but unfortunately we lost that game. Our next game was at 10:40 and we also lost that game, but that was ok. After that we had some time to eat some snacks. A couple of games later, we played our Grand Final. My team was playing so good, but we lost that game 4 to 6. Even though we lost our games it was still so much fun to play!

The best thing about the day was working with my team mates and cheering for them. The thing I improved on the most was my shooting, teamwork and encouraging other people. I really enjoyed it when my teammate got a goal. We were all really happy for her. I learned that in play, if you lose, it doesn’t matter. Well it does, but it’s okay because at least your team tried and that’s all that matters. I want to thank Mr O’Shea and all the Mum’s that participated in taking their children to Hoop Time and cheering them on. Playing on a team was special because it’s good for teamwork. I was really happy that I got to play in a team representing my school, Sacred Heart.

On Monday I had a great time at Hoop Time. I firstly got greeted by Mr O’Shea. We were the first school to get there. I went with Hugo, Leo and James. As soon as I made my foot onto the basketball court, it was like I was an actual basketball player. Then I started warming up with a downball and a basketball. I started shooting from the key. Then practised three pointers and some dribbles. I also got see some Kew Primary friends. Then everyone started shooting. I put my bag where Leo, Hugo and James bag’s were. Then we got to see our group. We were with Kew Primary, Camberwell South and St Patrick’s. We also got to play against our Sacred Heart girls team . Our first game was against Camberwell South. We won by 6 points. It was a great first game and Camberwell  put up a fight. Mr O’Shea was also coaching us. We then watched the girls game. They played against Kew Primary. They lost but they still made it to the finals. Our next game was against Kew Primary boys. We lost 12 to 16, but still had a comeback. We were more pumped then ever in our next game.
