Principal Update

Melissa Mackenzie

We hope you enjoyed the long weekend and took time to relax and re-energise.

On Monday the staff worked on the data sets that we have (NAPLAN, ATOSS, SSS and POS) specifically looking at the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) targets and setting new targets for the 2025 AIP.

Overall, our academic data is strong and continues to be positive feedback for the work we do. Our survey data is also strong with students, staff and parents showing an increase in positive growth with the engagement at school, solving real life problems and trust in the staff. Following this we spent some time ‘putting faces on the data’ where we analysed the data more closely to identify the levels that each student falls into and the learning they need to do to reach the next level. This concluded with a ‘pitch’ from each team about the resources they would need to reach their goals. The rest of the day was spent report writing, which was greatly appreciated by staff.

Prep / 1 Twilight Night

Tomorrow night we have our P/1 Twilight Night where the students arrive back at school for dinner and a show. It is the beginning of our camping program which is followed next week by our Year 2 Sleepover. On this night the students come back to school and stay the night onsite with their teachers and parent helpers. Both events are exciting and well supported by the staff making them memorable events.

We also have quite a few incursions and excursions over the next few weeks so please keep watch on Compass for notice of these events.

Comedy Night

This Saturday is our Comedy Night in our gym. There are still a few tickets available but the bookings close soon. It is sure to be a night full of laughs.

Class Placement 2025 - Principal Email Reminder

We are well underway with planning for 2025. We will run 18 classes with single age groups again next year. It is the time of the year where I ask parents to email me if they are wanting to make an educationally based request for their child. We use a program called Class Solver, to form the classes. Staff enter data  for each student about their academic progress, social development, anything else of relevance and friendships, which has been gathered from the students. Once the data has been entered the classes are created. The staff then review the classes carefully to ensure that all groups are ‘balanced’ and able to do their best learning. If you feel compelled to make an educationally based request then you are able to suggest no more than two students that you know your child should be with or to be separated from.

This request must be made to me by email before Friday 15 November.

Please note no late emails will be accepted and no requests for specific teachers will be considered.

Have a great week

Kind Regards

Melissa Mackenzie
