Navigating School Transitions: "Supporting Children Through Change"

Transition time is fast approaching for the VSC community. Grade 6 students are getting ready to come into the school for the first orientation day and students across all year levels are thinking and talking about Transition.

Whilst some students greet Transition with relief and a sense of anticipation for many it may also be a very anxious and stressful time for both parents and children.

It is an important time to be aware of your child’s feelings and to create conversations that acknowledge but support them with their anxiety, so the process is an enjoyable experience for all. It is important for your young person to attend Transition no matter how nervous them may be. Familiarisation is often key to reducing stress levels and building confidence to come back in the New Year after the extended break. If for some reason your young person is unable to attend their Transition due to anxiety, we urge you to contact your Student Manager or Well Being for assistance.

Please follow this link to have a deeper understanding about school transition on School TV. Included in the link are a range of videos and resources on Transition that you may find useful in navigating this phase of the year.
