We have again been so busy with some terrific Sustainabiliy initiatives. Year 5/6 students created a survey for all areas in the school, to check which kinds of bins each rooms have. We will use this data to make recycling easier next year, by making all classroom paper bins blue and all mixed recycling, e.g. for plastics, yellow. This will help to stop cross contamination and make sure our recycling goes to the right places to be recycled.
On Monday, the 2nd of December, Year 3/4s will be working as Citizen Scientists, along the Merri Creek, as well as visiting CERES Environment Centre, East Brunswick. Healthy Waterways Waterwatch is a free, fun and hands-on river education program.
We will be leaving school at 9AM so please ensure students are on time.
The students wear school uniform for this and pack lunch/snacks in their excursion bags. Please ensure your child has sunscreen and their water bottle. It would be helpful to wear long pants and bring roll on mosquito repellent (no aerosols please).
We look forward to sharing our learning with you!
Parents, please make sure you have signed the forms. Thank you.
Our Year 5 and 6 Compost Ninjas have saved over 200 kilograms of food waste from going into landfill! Instead, it has been used to feed our worms, create compost, and make nutritious soil for our gardens. Well done!
We would love to find a volunteer to repot our lemon tree into a larger pot. It gives us many beautiful lemons but desperately needs repotting in order to survive. If you can help please contact Ms Belinda at bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au.
Congratulations to 5/6FA this week with 15 rubbish free lunches! We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf
Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
