Start of Advent
I came across this reflection for young people from Lisa Marie Calderone-Stewart:
Have you ever tried to draw your family tree? How many uncles and aunts do you have? How many cousins do you have? How many grandparents do you remember knowing? Are any of them still alive? If so, what are they like? Do you have any older relatives that you really admire? What country or countries are your relatives from?
Luke and Matthew want us to know that Jesus was born in King David’s family. How would you feel if you found out that one of your ancestors was a king or queen?
What do you think your children and grandchildren might be like? Where do you think they might live? What country do you hope they will live in? What do you hope for all people living in the world by the time your children or grandchildren are grown?
Mass for the start of Advent and Mini Vinnies
As we get ready for the start of Advent this Sunday we reflect on preparation, waiting, anticipation, joy.
On Wednesday Father Trung SJ joined our school community for the beginning of Advent Mass. We listened to the readings and sang songs. Our Mini Vinnie's team presented their initiative to try and raise $600 for the St Vincent de Paul Society. All students are encouraged to think of others during the start of Advent before looking at the beautiful gifts at Christmas. So, any spare change, a gold coin, maybe some change from their piggybank or aunties and uncles, grandparents will be greatly appreciated.
The Mini Vinnie's will do their first collect of the raised money tomorrow and then again at the end of the week, next week.
We thank you for your help.
