Reading 

Over the past few weeks in Reading, we have been exploring the purpose of texts! After reading a book we have been asking ourselves if it was trying to inform, persuade or entertain us. We have also built our knowledge around facts and opinions. Students have sorted sentences and discussed whether they are facts or opinions. 

Writing

In Writing, we gave students the chance to share some facts and opinions about their teacher. Quite a humbling experience! We have been practising our ability to write words containing the /qu/ sound and those that have a /ck/ spelling choice.

Students tried their best to persuade us of their opinions over the last few weeks. They showed off some of their best persuasive skills in their very own 'Do Not Open This Book.'

Maths 

In Maths, we have been learning about different types of measurements, including length, weight and height. Students have been practising hefting to see which object weighs more when compared to another object. It was wonderful to see the conversations happening when students found items that were similar in weight. 

Zoo 

What a day?! Firstly, thank you to the wonderful parent helpers who came along to the zoo and helped the day run so smoothly. Secondly, thank you to the students for being absolutely AMAZING on their first bus trip away from the school! 

This day has already been quoted as the "best school day ever" by many of the students which has been terrific to hear. Check out the pictures to see some of the fun things we got to see and do at the zoo.

Fire Safety

All students at Moriac participated in a safety information session presented by our very own Moddewarre Fire Brigade.  Students learnt all about 'good' and 'bad' fires and fire safety both at home and when camping. They also discussed bushfire and grass fire safety as well as the importance of smoke detectors and having a fire safety plan for the home. A few students were lucky enough to have a go at using the fire hose.
