Wellbeing at Moriac
At Moriac, we teach the "Resilience, Rights, and Respectful Relationships" (RRRR) program as part of our wellbeing and health curriculum. This program is designed to build students' social and emotional skills, equipping them with essential tools for navigating school and life.
1. Resilience
Resilience is a key focus, helping students develop skills to manage challenges, bounce back from setbacks, and adapt to difficult situations. Through the RRRR program, students learn strategies such as positive self-talk, goal-setting, and emotional regulation, empowering them to handle stress and stay motivated when facing obstacles.
2. Rights
Understanding personal rights—and respecting the rights of others—is central to creating a safe, inclusive school environment. In the RRRR program, students explore the concept of boundaries, and learn when to seek help. They also gain an understanding of fairness, equality, and the importance of respecting everyone’s rights.
3. Respectful Relationships
Teaching students to form positive, healthy relationships is essential for a respectful school culture. In this component, students develop empathy, active listening skills, and conflict resolution strategies, helping them to interact positively with their peers. They learn to manage their emotions, communicate effectively, and foster respectful and supportive connections within the school community.
Program Structure
The RRRR program includes interactive lessons, role-playing activities, and group discussions. These methods allow students to practice skills like emotional literacy, identifying personal strengths, problem-solving, and managing stress in a safe, supportive environment. Additionally, students learn how to prevent and respond to bullying and disrespectful behaviour, strengthening their confidence in handling social challenges.
