Successful NSW Beach Touch Championships

On Wednesday 27 November our Senior A, Junior A and 7A teams played in the NSW Beach Touch Championships. Our girls definitely matched it with the selective sports high schools with the Senior A and 7A teams reaching the Grand Final to finish runners up.

Our Junior A team were narrowly defeated by the eventual winners by a try in the semi final on the final siren. They are a well drilled team and have worked hard on their skills since they began in the program in Year 4. Most of the team now play representative Touch.

Another impressive part of the day was the compliments our staff and coaches received from staff from other schools and Kambala old girls on the girls exemplary behaviour and conduct throughout the day.

Congratulations to all three teams and their coaches on showcasing the Kambala Touch program at the NSW Championships.

IGSA Tennis Wrap Up

This term we had a successful term of IGSA Tennis. All of our teams were extremely competitive and some excellent tennis matches were played. Unfortunately we were unable to finish off the season due to wet weather, however, all girls should be proud of the effort they put in this season.

Congratulations to Kambala 4 and Kambala 7 who finished in first place and were undefeated all term!

See you all in 2025 for another great season of Tennis.

Water Polo Wrap Up

This term we had 3 water polo teams entered into the IGSA Water Polo competition. All teams have improved so much from the start of the competition to the final round game and should be very proud of themselves. Last weekend we had all 3 teams playing at the same venue and it was great to be able to watch all the players and see the progress they have made. A special mention must go to our year 7 team. This term they were placed in the highest Year 7 division, Y701 and had to play with a shot clock for the first time.

Although they did not win any games, this team was so consistent with their training attendance and positivity, they need to be commended. Last Saturday 23 November they managed to have a draw with Loreto Kirribilli which was their best result of the term.

I am looking forward to seeing this team and all our teams continue to improve in 2025.

Kambala Futsal

Congratulations to our Kambala Futsal team, who successfully competed in an 8 week competition at Rosebank College this term. The talented team finished their first season of futsal in the top 4 of the competition, finishing off the season with an impressive 12-0 win on Friday night. This team was made up of students in Year 7 and 9, and it’s been humbling to see the girls connect and support each other throughout the season.

The growth, commitment and enthusiasm these girls showed each week has been a joy to watch, and we are so proud of these girls for representing Kambala with so much quality and pride. It has been fantastic to implement a futsal program into Kambala, and these girls have done an incredible job at setting the platform for the futsal program to grow and thrive in the future.

Year 3 Soccer

Congratulations to all our Year 3 soccer teams on an outstanding and enjoyable season! Despite some challenges with wet weather, the season ended on a high note, showcasing impressive skills and teamwork. The girls’ growth throughout the term is a testament to the dedication of their coaches, who successfully fostered the techniques and teamwork essential for playing a collaborative style of soccer. We’re excited to see their skills continue to flourish in Term 1 next year during the IPSHA competition!

IPSHA Basketball Competition

Although some teams missed out on playing their final game of the season, this year’s Junior School Basketball program was another highly enjoyable and successful one. Our teams consistently demonstrated a positive attitude and gave their all on the court.

Guided by our dedicated Head Coaches, the players were introduced to advanced basketball concepts that will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation for their future basketball endeavors here at Kambala. A special congratulations goes to all the Year 6 teams for completing their Junior School basketball journey. We wish them every success as they transition to Senior School sports!

Junior School Sailing

Sailing is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports in the Junior School, with 47 enthusiastic girls taking to the water each Saturday morning this term. We extend our gratitude to the Vaucluse Amatuer 12ft Sailing Club for delivering a comprehensive and enriching program that not only teaches valuable sailing skills but does so in a safe and supportive environment.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Vicki, our dedicated Sailing Supervisor, for her unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. We’re excited to see the Junior School Sailing program continue to thrive and grow next year!

Eastern Suburbs Touch Grand Finals and Best and Fairest

Congratulations to the four teams that played in the Eastern Suburbs Touch Grand Finals on Saturday. The mist rolled in and the Kambala teams were fired up to play. Our Senior teams, Kambala 3 and 4 played their Grand Finals with both teams  finishing runners up. Kambala 3 have played  back to back Grand Finals this year which is a credit to the team.

Thank you to the coaches who are all ex Kambala Senior A players Bianca Sachr, Eliza Finlayson and Lara Clemson on their preparation of the teams. It was great to see Piper Kirton back playing Touch and winning the Best Player Award for her division after she had to undergo a long rehabilitation period after knee surgery.

The Junior A team demonstrated  outstanding skills  in their Grand Final against SCEGGS in slippery conditions. The team coached by Scott Collins have worked extremely hard and they were most deserving of their 3-1. Lilyana Bickerstaff was voted by the referees as the best Player of the Junior A Division.

The Junior D team had a draw at full time and had to play a  drop off, unfortunately despite their best efforts SCEGGS scored the winning try. Lola Joffee won her second Best and Fairest award for the division. Isla Clementson was voted by the referees for her division of Touch and was excited to receive her trophy on Saturday. Our Senior A Touch Captain Polly Roche received the  prestigious award of being the Best Player in the Senior A division. It was also great to see a number of our girls refereeing Grand Finals for Easts.

IGSA Badminton Finals

There was great excitement at the Badminton Grand Finals  at Kambala’s home on Badminton as all four teams reached the Grand Finals. The Senior A team had a tight battle with Tara and it came down to the last match and Tara were victorious. Nevertheless the improvement of these girls since they began Badminton a couple of years ago has been impressive as they continue to move up the IGSA divisions.

Kambala 2 and 3 were victorious in their Grand Finals and Kambala 4 finished runners up. Thank you to our great team of coaches Ethan Huang, Matthew Grafen and Natasya Levona.
