Principal`s Message
On behalf of our school community, I would like to congratulate the Fantastic Fete Committee and school council on an amazing job. I would like to acknowledge that you have all spent hours and hours organising your part of such a successful event in the days before and after. Of course, kept an eager eye on the weather reports, but the sun shone brightly through the day with many current, past and future Fitzroy community members dropping in. I would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the parents’ helpers and teachers who attended and helped out in the school stalls and to those who stayed and helped pack up. We appreciate your support once again demonstrating what a wonderful and strong community we have.
AAFEBS Conference
Last week Danielle and I travelled to Brisbane to take part in the AFFEBs (The Australian Association of French-English Bilingual Schools) conference, where we received our official Label Accreditation from the French Ambassador. This prestigious recognition highlights our commitment to promoting quality multilingual and bilingual education, ensuring that our programs meet the highest standards of excellence. The Label Accreditation serves as a mark of quality for educational institutions and initiatives that demonstrate a strong, effective approach to multilingualism and cross-cultural communication.
The conference was not just a moment of pride for us, but also an invaluable networking opportunity. We had the chance to connect with fellow educators, researchers, and industry professionals who share our passion for advancing bilingual and multilingual education. It was inspiring to exchange ideas and best practices with like-minded individuals from around the country.
One of the most enriching parts of the event was hearing from leading experts in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and plurilingualism. The presentations and discussions gave us deeper insights into the evolving landscape of language education, providing us with new strategies to further enhance our own programs.
Foundation 2025
Yesterday marked a significant moment in our school’s journey as we welcomed the Class of 2025 to the Fitzroy family. It was truly a day of excitement and anticipation as we greeted our newest group of students, each one full of potential and eager to embark on their educational adventure with us. The smiles, energy, and enthusiasm in the room were contagious, and we couldn't be more thrilled to see so many fresh, bright faces ready to make their mark.
For many of these students, this is the start of a new chapter, and we are honoured to be part of their educational journey. It’s always a special occasion when we see the hopes and dreams of the incoming class, and this year is no exception. Whether they’re joining us from near or far, each student brings their own unique background and perspective, contributing to the rich diversity that defines our Fitzroy community.
Transitioning to High school
Tuesday, we saw six students attend their first Transition Day at Fitzroy High School. This was an important step as they took their first look at high school life, exploring the campus, meeting key staff, and getting to know their fellow students. The day was filled with fun activities designed to help them feel comfortable and connected, easing any nerves they may have had about starting this new chapter.
2025 Planning
To assist us in our planning for the 2025 school year it is imperative that we have as accurate a figure as possible of enrolments for 2025. If you have any kindergarten children ready for Foundation next year or if you know anyone who intends to enrol their child at Fitzroy but hasn’t done so already, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible.
It is equally important to know if any families of children currently in Prep to Year 5 are leaving Fitzroy in 2025. Please inform the office as soon as possible if your child/ren will not be returning next year.
