CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Personal and Social Capabilities we are learning to develop a vocabulary and practise the expression of emotions to describe how we feel in different familiar situations.
- I can use facial expressions to show familiar emotions, such as, happy, sad, angry, excited.
- I can explore how I show different emotions with my body.
- I can say how I am feeling in different situations.
VOCABULARY
Vocabulary: words used to communicate about the world around us.
Emotions: a person's inner feelings such as anger, fear, happiness and joy.

Storytelling with Emotions
Materials: Books or stories that depict various emotions.
Activity: Read a story with your child and pause to discuss the characters’ emotions at different points. Ask questions like, “How do you think they feel?” or “What would you do in that situation?” Encourage your child to express their thoughts using emotional vocabulary. For e.g. I think they feel sad because…
Learning Goal: Connect emotions to situations in literature and develop empathy.
