A Note from the Board
Greetings MECS Community,
The MECS Board attendees valued the experience of attending the CEN Godly Governance Conference. They shared their learnings with the Board at our meeting last Tuesday evening.
I asked Paul Bouma to share his experience with you all.

Earlier this month I attended the Christian Education National Godly Governance Conference in Melbourne. This was a three day conference where Board Members and Principals from all over Australia came together to grow in our skills and understanding of governance in an ever changing world of education.
It was a wonderful time of meeting and networking with so many great people all with a passion for Christian education. We heard first hand accounts from a number of school boards and Principals of challenges and crises their schools have faced, how they managed them and what they learnt in the process. Tears were shed in the listening and valuable lessons were taken away. We also received updates on child safety legislation, mental health safety in the workplace and risks facing Christian education through proposed government legislation.
Focus groups were a highlight of the conference where we got to share current challenges and issues our boards are facing and discuss ideas and solutions together. It was so encouraging to know we are supported by so many like minded Christian schools around Australia. We are grateful to Christian Education National for their work in training and equipping school boards through their annual Godly governance conference. It was a privilege to represent our MECS Board at the conference and invest into our boards growth and development.
