Australian Secondary Schools Snowsports Team Championships 2025 Recap

Falls Creek was once again the spectacular backdrop for the annual Falls Creek Schools Carnival, which also hosted the 2025 Australian Secondary Schools Snowsports Team Championships (ASSSTC). This year’s event brought together 144 students from 16 schools, competing across a variety of disciplines including Alpine GS, Snowboard GS, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross, Cross-Country Classic, and Cross-Country Relay.

The weather was perfect for racing, providing ideal conditions for our talented athletes to shine. Mount Beauty Secondary College proudly fielded 16 students, who stayed together at Banool Lodge. Students lived independently in mini-flats—cooking, cleaning, and supporting each other throughout the week. Banool's recreation room and pool table offered a great way to unwind after long days on the snow, and Wednesday night’s group night skiing was a memorable highlight.

While there were too many podium finishes to list, standout results included:

  • Neige S – Fastest overall time on the GS course with a blistering 21.1 seconds
  • Ben W – Fastest overall time in Ski Cross (24.08s) and second in Snowboard Cross (28.64s)
  • Evelyn A – Fastest Female Snowboarder in the GS (25.92s)
  • Eddy F – Fastest time in the Cross-Country Classic
  • Harry S and Nina F – Winners of their respective Cross Country divisions

In the ASSSTC team competition, only three schools competed: Mount Beauty, The Scots School, and Trinity Anglican College.

  • Mount Beauty defeated Scots in Snowboarding (46 to 34) and Cross Country (68 to 36)
  • Scots proved dominant in Skiing (124 to 40), securing the overall championship with 194 points, ahead of Mount Beauty’s 154

Despite finishing second overall, Mount Beauty proudly took home the SECONDARY FEMALE – OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIPS trophy.

This incredible week would not have been possible without the generous support of many. A huge thank you to:

  • Falls Creek Coaches for assisting with transport
  • Banool Lodge for their warm and flexible accommodation
  • Ms Stimson and Ms Farrington for volunteering their time and energy
  • Jim, Claire, Rachel, Priscilla, and Emma for their invaluable support throughout the week
  • The fundraising committee, local football club, Kiewa Valley Snowsports, and Mount Beauty Hardware for providing the students with new Snowsports jackets. They were not only stylish but also waterproof and warm!

And finally, thank you to our amazing students for their teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm throughout the event. Your efforts, both on and off the snow, were truly commendable.

We’re already looking forward to an even bigger and better ASSSTC and Falls Creek Schools Carnival in 2026!
