From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 3, we hit the ground running this term with a very busy few weeks. We start next week with our STM Learning Expo on Thursday night. It was a great event last year, the feedback from parents was that it would have been better if we started earlier. So we have made this change. It will run from 5:30pm-6:45pm. We then have Parent Teacher Interviews on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 3. A registration link went out earlier this week to book in a time. We also look forward to our Trivia Night on Saturday, 9th of August. There has been lots of advertising already gone out and families can use CDFPay to pay for tickets.
I know this is very early notice, but just for families reference, on the final day of the school year for students in Prep - Year 5 the school day will finish at 1:20pm (Tuesday, 16th of December). MACSEYE will be made aware and will be running a program from 1:20pm on that day. Year 6 students will finish on Thursday, 11th of December, their Graduation ceremony will also take place that evening at 6pm.
Allergies and Anaphylaxis:
New family and enrolment news:
We welcome Amon, who started with us this term. We hope Amon and his family enjoy their time as part of a wonderful school community. Enrolment interest has been strong, which is fantastic. I have conducted another 6 school tours this week and two upcoming Open Days in August are already full. At this stage we should start 2026 at well over 100 students, meaning for the first time since 2019 we will have achieved this. More information will be shared about classes for next year early in Term 4. Let's continue to grow our wonderful school together.
Assemblies in Term 3:
Due to the new swimming format (weekly on a Monday), there will be no assemblies until, Monday, 1st of September. We will still hand out Student Awards and Birthday certificates, but we will do this each Friday over the PA system.
School Improvements:
The school holiday period provides an opportunity for some improvements around the school, over the most recent two week period we saw the retaining wall be repaired and also a safety fence put in to prevent children going behind the building. We also had an access ramp installed to help movement around the school.
Eucharist - Parent / Child Workshop:
Thank you to the families who attended the Parent / Child Workshop on Tuesday for First Holy Eucharist. We look forward to celebrating the Sacrament with families on Sunday, August 10th at 9:00am Mass. Please see below a PDF version of the presentation from Tuesday afternoon.
PSG meetings - Term 3:
Due to the absence of key members of leadership in Term 3 including Mrs Donna Anderton and myself (Mr Mc), PSG meetings will not run in Term 3. All parents who attend PSG meetings each term should have received notice via email from Donna earlier this week. All parents are encouraged to attend our Parent Teacher Interviews which will be held in Week 3. The booking form for these interviews were also sent out via SchoolStream earlier this week. Please be assured parents are always welcome to email classroom teachers to arrange formal meetings about their children.
Parent teacher Interviews:
Earlier this week we sent home some information about how to book in for our upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews. These interviews are 10 minutes each and give parents a chance to discuss progress and check in with anything required for Semester 2. All families are asked to book in an interview time, including those families who would normally have PSG meetings.
Swimming Program:
Our swimming program starts on Monday, 28th of July. Please see the below timetable for students. Please note our Prep / 1 students may be slightly later back to school (3:15pm) as there lesson does not finish until 2:45pm.
St Thomas More Primary School Learning Expo - Save the Date:
Basketball Court Upgrades:
Thanks to the Parents and Friends Committee who have committed to donate the funds to upgrade our small Basketball court near the Library. There is still fundraising to be done between now and the end of the year. This will be an awesome improvement to our school.
Belgrave Police Colouring Competition:
Colouring sheets will be handed out at school.
