At Clayfield College, we strongly discourage the use of group messaging among students. As per our Technology Agreement, mass messaging (large group or class chats) and chain communication are not permitted. There is a copy of the Student Technology Agreement on pages 7A-8A of the student diaries.
These platforms, although popular with students, can foster an environment where inappropriate content, hurtful comments, and peer pressure are more prevalent, making it harder for students to navigate safely. It is a place where reactions to comments, cannot be physically witnessed, leading to miscommunication, misunderstandings and often hurt feelings. Our College takes a firm stance against such communication, and we urge parents to monitor and guide their children in making safe, responsible digital choices.
Three handy hints:

In Week 10 of this term, our Year 6 Students will undertake an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education.
To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $90.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. Upon receipt of this rebate, a credit will be applied to your parent account by the accounts department.
Pyjama Day, one of our favourite fundraisers and dress up days is coming up! On Friday 25 July we will be having our Ashburn Free Dress Fundraiser Day. The Pyjama Foundation aims to break the cycle of disadvantage experienced by children in care. Their mission is to create positive relationships for every Australian child in care, empowering them with learning, life skills and confidence. Students are invited to wear pyjamas to school. Please wear appropriate closed-in footwear and bring sports gear to change into if you have HPE or sports commitments on that day. If you haven't made a small donation and would like to, please follow this link:
We invite grandparents to join our Pre-Prep to Year 6 students for a delightful morning of celebration.
Please see attached Term 3 Clubs which commence in Week 2.

Over the holidays, our Pre-Prep classroom underwent a stunning transformation with new laminate flooring and thoughtful updates to both the staff room and kitchen. The refreshed space now feels wonderfully spacious and inviting, and everyone is thrilled with the results.
At the entrance, the garden beds behind the recently replaced retaining walls have been beautifully planted, we can’t wait to see them burst into bloom this summer. A heartfelt thank you to our Operations Manager, Mrs Woodhead for her dedication and coordination with the builders and landscapers to bring our vision to life.
This week, our Prep students embarked on the first of six outdoor classroom experiences, spending their morning immersed in nature at the Downfall Creek Bushlands Centre in Chermside West. The children enjoyed an interactive session led by the bush rangers, where they began to explore the habitats of native animals and learn what they need to survive.
Their enthusiasm was contagious as they shared some of their exciting discoveries:
“We saw a wallaby, kookaburras, and two bush turkeys!”
“There was even an old termite nest that kookaburras had turned into their own home.”
Our Prep and Year 1 students were delighted to be involved in NAIDOC week activities, including face painting and indigenous story reading with the Secondary School students.
Before-School and After-School Code Camp allows kids to hone their coding skills and keep practising through weekly sessions over the term!
Students will produce multiple games and apps using our exciting online platform Code Camp World!
We have made Code Camp World as accessible as possible so students can truly focus on the fun aspects of coding and carry on their journey at home.
Each week students will choose the features they want to build and advance their problem-solving skills to build these features using code. They will take ownership over their projects and collaborate with their peers to make awesome apps!
There are limited spots for this class. Register today!
Start Date: Monday 21 July 2025
Parents can reach Code Camp by leaving a voicemail on 1300 263 322 or emailing hello@codecamp.com.au for any other info.
