Captains' Corner

Molly Lillecrapp and Matilda McGaw, 2025 Boarding Captains

Welcome back!

It’s so good to be back! After a refreshing break, returning to boarding has felt a bit like coming home, full of familiar faces, comforting routines, and that special buzz of energy that only boarding life brings. There’s something truly special about that first day back: walking through the doors, dropping our bags, being greeted by our friends (and a few squeals and hugs), and instantly swapping holiday stories like no time has passed at all.

What makes boarding at Clayfield so unique is how quickly we settle back in, one moment you’re unpacking, and the next you’re laughing over tea, catching up in the common room, or planning what to do on the weekend. The sense of connection we have with each other is something you can’t quite put into words, but you feel it the moment you step back into the Boarding House.

A big thank you to Principal Dr Andrew Cousins for the most thoughtful welcome-back surprise! We were truly spoiled with the comfiest bean bags, plush blankets, and some delicious treats. It’s the little things like this that make such a big difference, the dorms and common areas feel extra cosy now, which is perfect for these cooler winter evenings. There’s definitely been a few movie nights and chill sessions already!

As we dive into Term 3, let’s carry that warmth and energy with us. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the sports field, or during our late-night chats in the dorms, this term is a fresh opportunity to grow, support one another, and make more amazing memories.

Here’s to a term filled with laughter, learning, and lots of love. Let’s make it count, boarding fam!
