A renowned singer and songwriter whose music blends pop, jazz, soul, and R&B, Kate Ceberano has produced 30 albums, with 10 songs in the Top 10 Singles. Known for her powerful voice, emotive performances, and ability to transcend genres, Kate has solidified her place as one of Australia’s most beloved artists. Her contributions to music have earned her multiple ARIA Awards, and in 2023, her remarkable achievements were recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Australian Women in Music Awards.
Jame Prendergast
Jame Prendergast is a Brisbane-based saxophonist with nearly 10 years of experience in performance and teaching. He’s toured internationally to music hubs like New York, Washington D.C., Budapest, and Austria, and was invited to an exclusive workshop with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. In 2020, he received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence. Jame performs with rising 70s funk/soul band The Anchormen and teaches at Hanlon School of Music. You may have seen him last year at On the Green or our Luminous Lunch.
Chloe Noon (Class of 2024)
Chloe Noon is a Brisbane-based singer-songwriter and 2024 Clayfield College graduate. She competed in Triple J’s Unearthed High with her original track “You Took My Problem (Not My Man),” blending guitar, vocals, and synth inspired by personal stories. A standout moment was performing with Kate Miller-Heidke at On the Green last year. She also featured at our P&F Welcome Evening and continues to perform regularly, with dreams of releasing her own album.
Clayfield College Big Band
The Clayfield College Big Band is a dynamic extension ensemble made up of talented brass, woodwind, and percussion students who also perform in groups like Symphonic Winds, Viotti Strings, and Canzona. Directed by Tim Opstelten, the band brings energy, style, and swing to the stage with vibrant sets of classic and contemporary tunes. With a shared passion for jazz, funk, Latin, and modern styles, the Big Band has become one of Brisbane’s most innovative and aspiring school ensembles. Performing at a range of events, they deliver unforgettable experiences that continue to enrich the musical journey for both audiences and performers alike.
Brisbane City Big Band
Brisbane City Big Band is one of Brisbane’s most historic community bands, entertaining audiences for over 110 years. As a founding member of the Bands in the Park program, and led by David Jones, the band boasts a vibrant membership and regularly performs at civic events, ANZAC ceremonies, and gala concerts across the city.
Student Involvement
We are proud to announce that several of our music ensembles will have the extraordinary opportunity to perform alongside Kate on stage, as well as participate in a workshop with her. Thank you to the Clayfield College Foundation for supporting this incredible experience for our students through the Opportunities of Excellence Program.
Viotti Strings will accompany her in a performance of Brave from her triple platinum album, joined by wind and brass musicians Reese Taylor, Riley Taylor, Christabel Ng, Sara Grima and Hannah Green. Choral students from Canzona, Ciao Bella and Ragazzi will provide the backing vocals of the beloved track ‘Lazarus Drug’ from Bluey: The Sign.
Opening the event will be our talented Year 12 music students, Ella-Jesson McIntyre and Caitlin Southwell, performing on bass.
