3/4 Classroom News

Welcome back to Term 3, which is jam-packed full of learning and extra-curricular activities. The weather will hopefully begin to warm-up and it will be Spring in no time!
Curriculum
This term's Inquiry Unit is titled, 'Forces & Functions'. Throughout the term, the students will be engaging in the exploration of physics, engineering and coding through guided experiments. This week, they worked cooperatively and shared their knowledge on what is necessary for things to work - especially paper aeroplanes. The students were required to make a paper aeroplane, come up with a fair experiment to measure its distance, then research what is needed to improve their design. Big words like aerodynamics, leverage and launching technique were used - even Kazz got in on the fun (I mean, learning). We're looking forward to some interesting and engaging experiments throughout the rest of the term.
Our writing focus this term is on Information Texts. The students will investigate the features and structures of what makes a good Information Text, then use that learned information to create a Narrative for the Narrative Writing Competition.
The focus for Maths this term will be more around Measurement, with lots of consolidation of learned number and place value facts.
