Year 3 to Year 6
We are thrilled to welcome back our students and staff for what promises to be another exciting and enriching term at Salvado Catholic College. Semester Two has begun with great energy and enthusiasm, with classrooms buzzing and students diving straight into learning.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Miss Chloe Collard, our dedicated Year 4G teacher, who has recently accepted a new position with the Catholic Education Office in Leederville as an Aboriginal Education Consultant. This new role is a perfect alignment with Chloe’s deep passion for Aboriginal culture and education.
During her time at Salvado, Chloe has made a significant impact on the growth of Aboriginal Education within our community. In her new role, she will work alongside the First Nations Education Team to support Catholic schools across the Perth region. Her new role focus will include mentoring Aboriginal Teaching Assistants (ATAs), enhancing cultural competency in schools, and improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for Aboriginal students.
We are incredibly proud of Miss Collard and know she will be a valued asset to Catholic Education Western Australia, just as she has been to our Salvado family. We wish her every success in this exciting new chapter.
NAIDOC Week has been launched with great success across the College. Junior School students and staff have embraced the celebrations through music, history, College Mass, vibrant Learning Space window murals and chalk serpents on the paving! Lunchtime activities have added to the festive spirit, offering students opportunities to engage with Aboriginal culture in meaningful ways.
Cross-curricular learning has deepened students’ understanding of Australia’s past and present, encouraging pride in cultural heritage for all students, regardless of background. It has been a powerful reminder of the richness and diversity of our shared history.
Our Year 3 to Year 6 students have been loving their annual EduDance lessons this term! With upbeat music and energetic choreography, students are harnessing their sense of rhythm, fitness, and love for music and movement. The program not only promotes physical activity but also builds confidence and teamwork. We are all eagerly looking forward to the concert later this term, where students will showcase their hard work and creativity. It’s sure to be a highlight!
Students are to wear their sports uniforms on their timetabled days (Monday or Tuesday) during the EduDance period.
Our Year Four students recently attended their Sacrament of First Holy Communion Retreat at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Hilbert. The day, coordinated by the 24:7 Ministry Team, was a huge success. Students participated in a variety of engaging activities, shared stories, and reflected on their faith journey in preparation for this important sacrament.
This Thursday, our Primary students represented Salvado Catholic College at the Inter-School Cross Country event. The day was filled with outstanding displays of team spirit, resilience, and determination. We are proud of all our students for their efforts and sportsmanship. Final results will be shared soon—stay tuned!
Regards,
Mrs Christine Pitman
