NAIDOC Week Mass
This week, our College gathered for a beautiful Mass led by Fr Robert Nixon OSB from the monastery in New Norcia, to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Thank you to our College’s First Nations families for joining us on this special occasion, and Fr Robert for making the journey from New Norcia to be with our College. A huge thank you also to our Year 1 and Year 2 students for their beautiful bilingual singing performance of “We Are One” in Noongar and English. A special thank you to Miss Collard and Mrs Thomas for their dedicated coordination of this important week.
Year 11 Retreat
Our Year 11 students participated in a three-day retreat at Cahoots Adventure Camp in Bullsbrook. The theme for this year’s retreat was Invisible Forces – a Reflection on Servant Leadership. Through this theme, the students developed an understanding of the quiet strength that emerges when we open our hearts to God and share our gifts with others. In a world that often equates leadership with visibility or volume, this retreat invited students to consider a different view – the Christian understanding of leadership as exemplified by Jesus, who led with humility, compassion, and service to others. It is this model of leadership that we hope to inspire in our students as they become leaders of our College in Year 12.
During the retreat, the students explored this theme through faith-based conversations, individual quiet time, group activities, reflective sessions, shared meals and time in nature. These experiences helped the students deepen their understanding of themselves, others, and their relationship with God and creation.
A core component of the retreat was engaging with The Salvado Way – virtues found in the legacy of Bishop Rosendo Salvado. Each day, students reflected upon and practised the values of the Salvado Way – Patience, Perseverance, Prudence, and Prayer.
On the final day, the students participated in a pilgrimage walk covering another section of the Camino Salvado. The walk was challenging, and our students persevered with courage, completing a physical and spiritual journey of connection and reflection.
Many thanks to all staff who supported our students on the retreat — Ms Fiume, Mr Hunt, Mrs Merry, Mr McNulty, Mr Peter, Mrs George-Crljenko, and Mr Woodford. A special thank you also to Fr Mark for celebrating Mass with the students and leading a memorable session.
A very special thank you also to our students for wholeheartedly embracing this retreat experience.
First Holy Communion
Please keep in your prayers our Year 4 students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus,
Who comes to us in the Eucharist with love and grace.
Bless all those who are receiving their First Holy Communion today.
Fill their hearts with faith and joy as they welcome Jesus into their lives.
Help them to understand the great gift they are receiving,
And guide them to grow ever closer to You each day.
Keep them strong in Your love,
Protect them from all harm,
And inspire them to share Your peace with others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention
In August , we pray for mutual coexistence.
Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious, or ideological reasons.
