Prep - Year 2

As we move into Term 3, we are excited to share the engaging learning experiences planned for our Prep to Year 2 students at Northern Bay College. This term, our inquiry in HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) will focus on the fascinating world of Earth and Space Sciences. Our youngest learners in Prep will be exploring the weather — observing changes, identifying different types of weather, and understanding how it affects our daily lives. Meanwhile, our Year 1 and 2 students will embark on a journey through the solar system, learning about the planets, stars, and the vastness of space, sparking their curiosity about the universe beyond our planet.

We are also proud to continue delivering our phonics program, which has been carefully refined to meet the needs of our learners. These daily phonics sessions are designed to strengthen students’ phonological and phonemic awareness — essential building blocks for developing strong reading and writing skills. The progress we have seen so far has been outstanding, and we are excited to build on this momentum throughout the term.

In addition to phonics, our literacy program will further focus on developing confidence and competence in Reading and Writing. Students will engage with a variety of texts and writing activities that encourage creativity, comprehension, and effective communication.

Mathematics learning this term will continue to emphasize real-life applications, helping students make meaningful connections between mathematical concepts and their everyday experiences. By exploring practical examples, students will develop problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding.
