Dear Karoo PS Community,
It has been wonderful to welcome all our students and families back to Karoo PS for an exciting term ahead. I have had the great privilege and joy of hearing all about our student's holiday adventures and seeing them reconnect with their friends and teachers this week. It has also not taken long for routines to be reestablished and our students to settle back in their learning environments, ready for the term ahead.
With an exciting and eventful term, we will be focusing on our SWPBS expected behaviour standard of 'Movement' and reflecting on how we can be role models by safely and respectfully moving around our school.
To support our learning, all our students this week have been engaging with our 'Moving Around our School' social story and discussing why it is important to move safety with their teacher and peers. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child, as the learning partnership between home and school is essential.
Over the holidays we had a range of building and grounds works take place to enhance our school environment. Therefore, you may have noticed some changes upon your return to school.
We have:
We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead full of activities for all year levels. Our calendar has been updated on Compass.
Book Week - Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character! This year the theme is 'Book an Adventure' and we welcome our community to our colourful and anticipated Book Week parade on Friday 22nd August at 9:15am.
Father's and Special Persons Day breakfast and classroom activities - Friday 5th September 8:30am. More information to come - please keep an eye out on Compass for more details.
It is with great delight that I am able to share with our school community the safe arrival into the world of Maverick Kuusela, the son of Ms Ashley Kuusela. Ashley is happy to share that Mav is going very well, and she and her family are enjoying all the special newborn cuddles.
I would like to provide you with an update regarding Ms Rebecca Barton (2B) and the commencement of her maternity leave. Ms Barton will be commencing her maternity leave from Wednesday the 13th of August.
We are very fortunate that Ms. Sara Cu, who has been a familiar and consistent presence in 2B, will be replacing Ms Barton and will continue teaching the class for the remainder of 2025, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I know you will join me in sending your continued best wishes to Ms Barton and her family during this exciting time, as we welcome Ms Sara Cu into our year 2 year level.
The start of the term is a great time to remind our school community to ensure safe movement on our roads, especially during pick up and drop off time.
Therefore, to ensure the safety of our students and families please ensure the following:
Thank you for your continued support in ensuring the safety of our community.
I look forward to a sensational Term 3!
Kind Regards,
