New Experiences Together

Each term opens opportunities for many new experiences together. Term 3 in Primary Years is always a very busy one with camps, excursions, incursions and special days and weeks. All these occasions provide opportunities for our students to continue to grow, nurture and extend their knowledge, skills and abilities. This week in assembly I spoke to the students about coming to school with the College values in their ‘backpack’ ready to pull out and use. Showing grace when things don’t go their way as well as respecting others, the College environment and themselves. Acting with integrity in all situations and showing courage when faced with new learning or experiences. Our teachers encourage all students to grow in their ability to bring these values into their everyday interactions. In doing so, over time our students develop into active, productive members of society who can make good choices.

100 Days of Prep – A German Surprise!

On Wednesday, Prep students celebrated 100 days of school! To mark this special milestone, the Year 6 students, together with the German teachers, prepared traditional Zuckertüten — paper cones filled with small gifts — to commemorate the successful start to school life.

After chapel, Prep students and their Year 6 buddies moved to the playground area where the Zuckertüten were hung in the trees as is tradition in Germany. Each Prep student chose their own Zuckertüte, with the support of their Year 6 buddy. It was a joyful morning filled with smiles and excitement.

A heartfelt thank you to all the Year 6 students, teachers, and parents who helped make this celebration special for the Preps!

Year 4 NGV Excursion

As part of their How We Express Ourselves unit of inquiry, our Year 4 students visited the NGV to explore the central idea that the arts are used to express culture. Through the NGV’s Artful English program, they engaged with diverse artworks, analysing and reflecting on how art and design communicate cultural, historical, and contemporary stories. Inspired by the exhibits, students created sketch art and responded with poetry, using creative writing to share their personal feelings and insights.

This museum adventure deepened their understanding of the connections between artists and audiences, enriching their intercultural awareness. It was a valuable and inspiring learning experience beyond the classroom—one filled with curiosity, creativity and meaningful reflection.

Year 6 Exhibition is Coming!

The Year 6 Exhibition is a major milestone in our Primary Years Programme, where students explore real-world issues they are passionate about and take meaningful action. It’s a celebration of their learning journey and the skills they’ve developed throughout their Primary Years.

This year’s Exhibition will be held on Tuesday 16 September, and we are inviting all family and community members to get involved!

If you have a special interest, profession, cultural knowledge or life experience that could support a student inquiry, we’d love to hear from you. You may be invited to speak to a small group, answer questions, or offer feedback.

Please take a moment to fill out our short survey below. Thank you for being part of our learning community!

Find more information about the exhibition on the IB page in our next newsletter edition.
