Performing Arts Highlights

Year 3/4

The Year 3/4 communities have enjoyed developing a growth mindset in Performing Arts with identifying important phrases and singing the lyrics to the song, “The Power of Yet”. They have expressed that Performing Arts helps students be brave and build their confidence. Students have begun to develop an understanding of the expressive skills of facial expression and gesture and in Drama when performing to an audience.

An example from the song: The Power of Yet by C.J Luckey

This is the power of yet

Don’t you settle for less

If you just give your best

Then you will have success

Know it’s all about the process

Steady make progress

Remain optimistic

I don’t get it, well NOT YET

Year 5/6

The Year 5/6 communities have collaborated to express a role-play and sequence of actions based on the song ‘The Famous Mindset’. The song highlighted how many famous people including Albert Einstein, Dr Seuss and Michael Jordan all had to persevere in achieving their dreams. Students have also been collaborating with others to use the expressive skills of facial expression, gesture, movement and in Drama to perform short improvised scenes.

An example from the song: The Famous Mind Set by C.J Luckey

If life knocks you down, you just get up

A challenge may come, you just get tough

Sometimes you may fail, inhale-exhale

Know you can excel, if you never give up

Albert Einstein, is the first in line

He struggled to stay in school

But still finished on time

One of the brilliant minds Was hearing the negativity

He preserved

Made theory of relativity

Choir

The Choir students have been working towards presenting the song, 'Here You Lie' by Mark Puddy at assembly next term. Students will be singing about Anzac Day. They can't wait to perform to the school.
