Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope everyone had a restful holiday and enjoyed the Easter break.

Last term, staff were busy preparing for our School Review. This process happens every four years.

School Review is a time when we reflect on our goals and successes from the past review cycle. It is a time to celebrate our achievements, focus on our challenges and ask the question, “how can we do even better?”  At the conclusion of the review, we set new goals for the next four years. We call this a School Improvement Plan (SIP) and is our road map for continued growth.

The review also includes a compliance aspect. During this process, the reviewer verifies that our school meets all minimum standards, registration requirements, and external regulations, including the Child Safe Standards.

On Tuesday, Gavin Healy, our reviewer, attended our school and completed this part of the review, which he said we achieved at a high standard.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, Gavin will return and continue to work with the leadership team, staff, students and a parent group to gain an insight into the running of our school. His feedback will support us to develop and implement our new School Improvement Plan (SIP).

We welcome this process to celebrate our successes as well as to challenge us to further improve. It reinvigorates and reminds us of our vision at SMDP to make our learning engaging, targeted and relevant, to cater for all our students. We want them to continually improve and feel success in a school where they feel they belong and are known.

New Outside Student Toilets

During the holidays, our builders have been busy renovating the outside student toilets. These toilets have been looking very tired and sad. They are the last part of the old buildings that desperately needed a new ‘face lift’. Tony and his builders from NOVCOM have done an amazing job! The transformation is very impressive.

Wishing everyone a happy end of the week.
