From the Principal

Dear Families,
As I sit and write this newsletter I honestly cannot believe Term 1 has concluded already! It has obviously been such an action packed term that we haven’t noticed the time fly by.
This year we welcomed many new students and it has been so pleasing to see them adjusting to life at Pioneer Village School and seeing them form new friendships.
Our Upper Years students started the school year with their school camp, while the Years 1 – 4 students spent a day at Dare Adventures, Dwellingup. Friday Clubs continue to be a huge success with everyone engaged in all the club offerings. Students have commented on how much they have enjoyed both their club, and being in a mixed group with a different teacher for the afternoon.
Our 2024 School leaders were welcomed in a special assembly at the end of 2023, and I have been very proud of how they have stepped up into their roles and taken on the additional challenge of the new assembly location. So far this term they have hosted assemblies, helped set up for sports lessons, and enjoyed the annual tradition of ‘Pizza with the Principal’. I look forward to seeing their leadership growth throughout the year.
We also celebrated Harmony Day on 21st March. Students were encouraged to wear orange, as this traditionally signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. Students enjoyed the day by engaging in Harmony Day activities, and spent time with their buddies from other classes.
Our Years 3 and 5 students completed NAPLAN in Weeks 7 and 8 and we were very proud of how they persevered and tried their best despite some nerves!
Our final week was a busy one too! Our annual EduDance concert was again an exciting event and I am sure you will all agree that our PVS students know how to light up a stage! To finish the term there was the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and Grandparent’s Day. A big thank you to the P&F for organising the Easter Raffle, and also thank you to all families for the donations. The prizes were fantastic!!
I am sure you are all looking forward to the holidays as it has been a busy term. I do hope that all of our students and families can enjoy some quality time together. I look forward to seeing you all back at school nice and refreshed on Monday April 15th.
Warm regards,
Louise Lont
