Year 9 GIRLS Program
CAMP
On the 27th of February, the Year 9 GIRLS class, Mrs. Amery, Bianca and Mr. Reid, drove to the camp with the school buses. We went on camp to learn about the Indigenous Culture and build friendships with each other. We got to the site at Camp Jumbuck, then we had a cultural experience and little lesson on totems and how they are connected to us and made drawings with Indigenous symbols that had Indigenous meanings. After that, we unpacked and set up our tents which was easy (for some). Finally, it was dinner time. We had chicken noodles that we cooked on the Trangia’s. After dinner, we had a campfire and cooked smores and had a bit of free time before sleepy time.
In the morning, we started packing up all the tents, but we ended up being 3 hours behind. After we packed up, we had brekie which was Up and Go’s and muesli bars. We then did some mini golf and the obstacle course before leaving. We then left and stopped at Maccas on the way. We reached school around 1:30 and bought all the camp equipment back into B10. Overall, I had a pretty good time.

THE FIRST PEOPLES EXHIBITION
Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Melbourne Museum
On the Tuesday the 20th of February the GIRLS Program went to the Melbourne Museum to learn about the First Nations People and the way the that they lived before, during and after the invasion of the First Fleet. We also did the outside garden area. We all brought our own lunch at the very expensive café. After that we separated into small groups of 4-5, in those groups we went to a part of the museum when we were finished, we meet at the gift shop and buy something for there if we wanted. We walked back to Parliament station to change the train to Berwick station where we had to meet at 8:00am. It had been a good day that today.
