Library News

And a poem!

LIBRARY NEWS – TERM 1

What an exciting start to the year it’s been, with the opening of our big space and plenty of new, awesome books to read in the library. We welcome our new Teacher Librarian, Tracey Scott, to Kambrya College and look forward to her many costumes and special events.

This term we have been working hard behind the scenes, planning, designing and working with Library furniture companies to bring you a new, modern (and a little bit fancy) layout very soon. Watch this space!

CHESS TOURNAMENT

This year, we have begun a new competition, playing knockout rounds of chess each week in the library, to find our school Chess Champion. We were overwhelmed by the response, with over 90 students entering the competition!  We congratulate all students who have entered the competition so far and to those who have now made it through to Round 5 of the tournament.

We are also please to announce that almost 20 staff signed up for the teacher competition and we look forward to our grand finale spectacular, where we will play off the best student versus our best staff member next term.

MAKERSPACE ACTIVITIES

This term we began doing Makerspace at lunchtimes in the library (STEM based activities). We celebrated Leap Year, International Women’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Harmony

Day and will begin our Easter activities in

the final week of term. Students have created origami pieces, completed some spectacular mindfulness colouring artwork, completed words searches, crosswords, puzzles and will be decorating Easter chickens to take home.

Poem based off “Yuya Karraburra”

By Ixchel Sass-Nieto, M9C

In the depths of self, where shadows roam,

I seek the essence that calls me home.

A journey of self-discovery untold,

to find my spirit, my truth unfolds.

Like a lone star in the vast night sky,

I navigate the realms of “I” and “why”.

In the silence of my heart’s whispering plea,

I unravel the layers of what makes me, me.

Through valleys of doubt and mountains of fear,

I yearn for a place where I am sincere.

A tribe of souls who see me for who I am,

where acceptance and love flow like a tranquil stream.

I sway in the winds of change and time,

shedding masks, embracing the sublime.

A tapestry woven with threads of my being,

revealing the colours of my essence, freeing.

In the tapestry of humanity, I find my thread,

weaving connections, no longer misled.

Belonging not to a place, but to hearts aligned,

in the symphony of kindred spirits I find.

In the dance of identity and pilgrimage of belonging,

I discover the music of my soul, melodiously and strong.

For embracing my truth and finding my kind,

I unearth the treasure of belonging, a joyous bind.

In the tapestry of life, where threads interlink,

I find myself and my place, a belonging divine.

An ode to the journey, the discovery of self,

and the embrace of belonging, the heart’s true wealth.
