JSSATIS Girls AFL Gala 

Last Wednesday afternoon, the JSSATIS Girls AFL Gala afternoon was held at Bell Street oval for interested students in Years 5 and 6. In a round robin format participating schools competed against each other whilst getting a taste of Australian Rules Football in a non-competitive and fun environment. 

Coached by Daniel Holborow and ably supported by runner, Georgia Dodge, the girls went from strength to strength. In very warm conditions, enthusiasm did not wane from the first bounce to the last siren—it was contagious! Our best was saved to last where we finished the day with multiple goals and the biggest smiles.

Thank you to Justin Harvey from AFL Tasmania who gave up his time to take a skills session during the day and then officiated and provided guidance to our team throughout the games. Justin’s expertise and skill, manner, patience, and passion for the game are second to none— we cannot thank him enough.

I appreciate the support from families which has allowed us to enter a team and lastly, a very well done to all students who participated; you represented the College beautifully.
